The Text Generations

This translated anthology of Palestinian poetry spans seven decades of history, gathering works from sixteen poets of diverse geographical backgrounds, including the West Bank, Gaza, and the diaspora. Compiled and translated by Mohammed Sawaie, this collection focuses on poems written in Modern Standard Arabic, offering many of these pieces in English for the first time. The verses reflect on collective and personal experiences of exile, life under military rule, and the fragmentation of communities following major historical events like the 1948 Nakba. Through these expressive literary works, readers gain insight into the artistic responses to displacement and the ongoing struggle to maintain connection to a lost homeland.
