A Quiet Place

In post-war Japan, mild-mannered government bureaucrat Tsuneo Asai is on a business trip in Kobe when he receives sudden news of his wife Eiko's fatal heart attack back in Tokyo. Though she suffered from a known heart condition, the unusual location of her death puzzles Tsuneo. Eiko was a quiet woman who supposedly only left their home to attend haiku gatherings, yet she passed away inside a boutique located in a shady neighborhood. Seeking answers and closure, Tsuneo investigates the area, discovering a nearby villa notorious as a discreet meeting place for lovers. His search forces him to dig into his wife's hidden past and confront the unsettling possibility that she was living a secret double life in this standalone noir mystery.
