Love That Dog

Love That Dog is a story written in free-verse poems from the perspective of a young boy named Jack. Jack is a reluctant student who initially believes that poetry is only for girls. Through the encouragement of his teacher, Miss Stretchberry, and exposure to the works of classic poets, Jack begins to write his own verses. Over time, he uses his poetry to express his feelings about his yellow dog, Sky, and to process his grief over losing him. The narrative explores themes of self-expression, healing, and the bond between a child and a pet.
